The latest hotel occupancy and arrival figures for Antigua and Barbuda show that the tourism sector continues to follow historical seasonal patterns, with the summer months remaining the most challenging for hoteliers.

According to the Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourist Association (ABHTA), average hotel occupancy in August 2025 was 60.4 percent, slightly above the 59.9 percent recorded in the same month last year. However, September saw a drop to 42 percent, down from 46.2 percent in 2024.

The data also show that for the first seven months of 2025, stay-over arrivals totaled 205,893, a modest increase over 205,004 recorded during the same period in 2024.

The United States continues to dominate visitor arrivals, accounting for more than half of all stay-over tourists. From January to July, arrivals from the U.S. reached 115,599, up from 109,016 the previous year.

The United Kingdom remains the second most important source market, with 44,007 arrivals compared to 42,152 in 2024. Canada ranked third but recorded an 18 percent decline, with 17,578 visitors versus 20,660 last year.

While industry leaders view the summer dip as part of a consistent pattern, the marginal year-on-year improvements suggest steady resilience in Antigua and Barbuda’s core tourism markets despite global travel fluctuations. -POINTE XPRESS
