The Catholic Diocese of St. John’s-Basseterre is appealing to parishioners to contribute to a regional relief effort in support of Jamaica following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa.

In a statement shared on social media, the Diocese encouraged all the faithful to make a “generous pledge” toward the Antilles Episcopal Conference (AEC) Relief Effort, with donations to be collected on the last Sunday of November. Parish priests across the Diocese will coordinate the initiative and provide additional information to parishioners.

The AEC Disaster Relief Fund, administered through the Antilles Episcopal Conference, will channel financial assistance to affected communities. According to the campaign notice, Hurricane Melissa has “severely affected our region,” prompting the Conference to coordinate humanitarian aid through financial donations.

Supporters can contribute through several options, including wire transfers to the AEC accounts at Northern Trust (U.S. deposits), Republic Bank (Trinidad and Tobago deposits), or via the National Catholic Community Foundation’s online platform. Donors are asked to indicate “Hurricane Melissa Relief” on transfers and send confirmation to **aecfinance@gmail.com**.

The Diocese’s appeal emphasizes unity and compassion in the aftermath of the storm, urging members of the Catholic community to “give hope after the storm” and stand in solidarity with those rebuilding their lives across the region.

For more information, the Diocese directed the public to contact the AEC office at **(868) 622-2932** or visit **aecbishops.org**.
