Sir Robin Yearwood entered Parliament this morning for a special sitting commemorating his 50th anniversary as a Member of Parliament.

He was first elected on February 18, 1976, representing the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party under the leadership of Vere Cornwall Bird, as the party returned to office following its 1971 defeat.

Sir Robin has retained his seat in every general election since, becoming the longest-serving elected parliamentarian in the Caribbean and the wider Commonwealth.
