Antigua and Barbuda’s ambassador to the United States has rejected reports that US visitor visas for Antiguan and Barbudan passport holders have been reduced to three months.
Sir Ronald Sanders said there had been no official confirmation of any change to the validity of US visas issued to nationals of Antigua and Barbuda.
The claim was published on Thursday by the Virgin Islands Consortium, which reported that updated reciprocity schedules from the US Department of State showed a downgrade for Antigua and Barbuda and Dominica. The report did not state when the schedules were accessed or verified.
Speaking to state media ABS, Sir Ronald described the report as inaccurate. He said any changes to visa arrangements would be communicated through official diplomatic channels.
The ambassador added that he remains in contact with US officials on visa matters, including restrictions announced by Washington last year and a pause in the processing of immigrant visas affecting 75 countries.
The government said it continues to monitor developments as discussions with US authorities continue.
