    — Construction has begun on a new primary school in the Five Islands area, a development the government says will expand education infrastructure and support growth in the surrounding community.

Education Minister Daryll Matthew announced the start of the project, describing it as an important step forward for the area.

“Construction has officially begun on the Five Islands Primary School, marking another major step forward for education and community development in the Five Islands area,” Matthew said.

The minister noted that the project forms part of a broader investment in education infrastructure and community development.

“This project represents the first phase of the USD $80 million buildout, an investment that will strengthen educational opportunities while supporting the continued growth of the community,” he said.

The new school is expected to serve families in and around Five Islands, where development activity has increased in recent years. Officials say the project will provide improved facilities for students while helping to meet the needs of a growing population in the area.

Construction activity is already underway at the site, with land clearing and foundation work visible as the project moves into its initial stages.
