United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate Alex Browne intensified his campaign efforts across St. Philip’s North last week with a series of canvassing activities, a political meeting in Glanvilles and a weekend motorcade as the March 16 by-election approaches.

Browne’s campaign schedule included community visits and evening canvassing in several areas of the constituency, including Glanvilles, Seatons and Willikies. Supporters also gathered Thursday night at the Glanvilles Playing Field for a political meeting as the opposition party continued its push to mobilize voters ahead of polling day.

The campaign activities culminated with a motorcade through parts of the constituency on Sunday, beginning at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium and ending in Willikies.

The UPP candidate has framed his campaign around what he describes as a “blueprint for a stronger St. Philip’s North,” while also highlighting social and community issues affecting residents.

In a message marking International Women’s Day, Browne said the campaign was also focused on addressing challenges faced by women in the constituency.

“We celebrate the strength of the mothers, entrepreneurs, caregivers, and community builders who hold St. Philip’s North together every day,” Browne said. “We also confront the challenges women face in our community with a commitment to access, action, and progress.”

He added that the campaign seeks to promote unity and advancement within the constituency.

    “Together, we rise,” Browne said.

The by-election campaign has also seen activity from the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP), whose candidate Randy Baltimore has been holding his own meetings and outreach efforts across the constituency.

The March 16 by-election will determine who represents St. Philip’s North in Parliament following the vacancy of the seat. Both parties have intensified their ground operations in recent weeks as they seek to secure voter support in the eastern Antigua constituency.
