Caribbean Community (CARICOM) governments are preparing to send humanitarian supplies to Cuba, following a decision taken at the bloc’s 50th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government held in St Kitts and Nevis in February 2026.

CARICOM Chairman Dr Terrance Drew announced the initiative, which will see essential goods procured and delivered to the island as part of a coordinated regional response.

The CARICOM Secretariat, based in Georgetown, Guyana, is overseeing the effort. Supplies to be sent include powdered milk and baby formula, non-perishable food items such as beans, wheat flour, rice and canned goods, as well as basic medical supplies, solar panels, batteries and water tanks.

The Government of Mexico is supporting the initiative by identifying suppliers and facilitating logistics. Mexican authorities have also committed to providing free shipment of the supplies from Mexico to Cuba.

The assistance forms part of ongoing regional cooperation aimed at supporting Cuba amid current challenges.
