The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda is urging the public to exercise caution and act responsibly over the Easter holiday weekend, as officers increase patrols across the island.
In a public notice, police encouraged residents and visitors to remain aware of their surroundings and prioritize personal safety while participating in holiday activities.
Beachgoers, including campers and sea bathers, were advised to closely monitor weather conditions to ensure safe conditions, while special attention should be given to children and elderly individuals in public spaces.
Authorities also reminded the public that the sale of alcohol is strictly prohibited on Good Friday. Business operators, including bar owners and vendors, were warned to comply with the law or risk having their liquor licences revoked.
Police issued a strong warning against drinking and driving, describing the practice as extremely dangerous. Motorists were encouraged to plan ahead by using designated drivers or alternative transportation.
The force said increased patrols throughout the weekend are intended to maintain a safe and peaceful environment.
Officials also extended Easter greetings to the public, wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday.
