LETTER: Bobby Alley and A woman named Rose

    Dear Editor,

Years ago I had reason to go to help someone in Booby Alley, in Pointe. Even though I knew the area I never knew there was a real alley.

I was most surprised at the cleanliness of the alley, it was swept clean as a whistle, if food dropped it could be picked up and eaten after a brush-off.

For a few days on as I visited the location the cleanliness continued to amaze me so much I had to ask if Solid Waste had such perfect cleaners on staff.

I was told that it was Rose who cleaned Booby Alley and nobody paid her to do it, she voluntarily did her daily cleaning early every day. When a neighborly heart undertakes to clean Booby Alley for all who used it, those who enjoyed the comfort and sanitation of her daily cleaning should remember her efforts, and recommend that the new apartment building be named after her.

The name Rose is a great name to form the decorative part of several names: ROSE GARDENS; ROSE APARTMENTS; ROSE ON POINTE; ROSES ON THE SEA. Or any Rose name that appreciates the work of Rose who cleaned Booby Alley daily because she cared, and loved her Neighbourhood!

Antigua fails to give credit to the poor and humble achievers of this island, the people who diligently improve their surroundings and lives of others. Rose deserves to be remembered.
