The Calvin Ayre Foundation (CAF), in collaboration with the Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) and CalvinAir, has once again assisted citizens in urgent need of overseas medical care by helping to facilitate life-saving treatment for Mr. Arthur James and Mr. Kenneth Edwards.

The patients recently experienced serious cardiac emergencies requiring specialized treatment not available locally. Through the prompt coordinated efforts of the MBS, CAF, and CalvinAir, arrangements were made to ensure they could access the urgent overseas care needed to improve their chances of recovery.

Mr. James, who required emergency cardiac intervention following a serious heart attack, was able to receive funding from the MBS, who covered the cost of his medical procedures while CAF, in collaboration with CalvinAir, facilitated his medical transfer to Martinique for specialist treatment.

Similarly, Mr. Edwards too required urgent overseas after also experiencing a cardiac event. Given the time-sensitive nature of his condition and the lack of local treatment options, arrangements were made for him to be transferred alongside Mr. James to Martinique, where both patients could access specialized cardiac care.

Arthur James and his family expressed their appreciation for the support received during a particularly difficult period:

_“We are deeply grateful to CalvinAir and the Calvin Ayre Foundation for their support during a critical time for our family. Their assistance gave us hope and helped ensure Arthur received the care he urgently needed.”_

Mr. Edwards’ sister, Valerie Edwards, also reflected on the swift response that made the transfer possible:

_“From the moment my brother arrived at the hospital, everyone involved worked tirelessly to help him. The collaboration between SLBMC, MBS, CalvinAir, and the Calvin Ayre Foundation made a life-saving difference, and our family will always be grateful.”_

Patrice Jacobs, Media and Production Associate at CAF, said the Foundation remains committed to supporting urgent medical cases wherever possible.

_“When serious medical emergencies arise, access to timely treatment can be life changing. We are grateful to work alongside MBS and CalvinAir to help ensure that patients receive the specialized care they need when local options are unavailable.”_

The successful transfers of Mr. James and Mr. Edwards serve as a reminder of what can be achieved when organisations come together with a shared purpose. By working collaboratively to remove barriers to care, partners can help ensure that patients receive timely treatment and the best possible chance of recovery.
