Residents are being advised to prepare for unsettled weather this afternoon and evening as a tropical wave moves across the area.

According to local weather forecasters, there is an 80% chance of showers, with rainfall totals expected to range between 1 and 5 millimetres (0.04 to 0.20 inches).

Forecasters also say there is a 30% chance of thunderstorms this afternoon, increasing to 40% during the evening.

The tropical wave is expected to bring periods of disruptive weather, and motorists and residents are urged to exercise caution in areas prone to localized flooding or reduced visibility during heavy showers.
