Motorists and pedestrians are being advised to expect minor traffic disruptions today as the APUA Water Business Unit carries out pipe installation works along a section of Market Street between Newgate Street and Church Street.
The works, being undertaken by the utility’s Horizontal Directional Drilling team, will allow old pipes along Newgate Street to be decommissioned and a new water connection to be established.
APUA said the project forms part of a contingency plan to support St. John’s water supply from the Fort James Reverse Osmosis Plant, in addition to the existing supply from the Grays Hill Reservoir.
The utility is urging road users to proceed with caution and follow the directions of work crews in the area. APUA thanked the public for its patience and cooperation.
