The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority has welcomed LIAT’s inaugural direct service between Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, and Montego Bay, Jamaica, describing it as a major step forward for regional tourism and connectivity.

Speaking at the inaugural celebrations, the Authority’s Director of Caribbean and Latin America, Shermain Jeremy, said the new route benefits the entire Caribbean rather than any single destination.

“This route is not Guadeloupe’s gain or Jamaica’s gain—it is the region’s gain,” Jeremy said.

She noted that the service positions Guadeloupe as a gateway for multi-destination travel, making it easier for visitors to experience destinations across the region, including Antigua and Barbuda.

Jeremy said the future of Caribbean tourism lies in collaboration rather than competition.

“That is the future of Caribbean tourism: not competing for the same visitor, but sharing them.”

The Tourism Authority congratulated LIAT and its partners on expanding regional connectivity and improving access to Caribbean destinations.
