NORTH SOUND, Antigua — Shadab Khan struck an unbeaten 52 from 20 balls as the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons defeated the Trinbago Knight Riders by five wickets Saturday night and moved to the top of the 2026 Caribbean Premier League standings.
Chasing 166, the Falcons reached 168 for five with nine balls remaining.
Shadab entered with the Falcons struggling at 92 for five and needing 74 runs from 41 deliveries. He joined Kusal Perera, who finished unbeaten on 34, for an unbroken 76-run partnership from 33 balls.
The Knight Riders had 37 runs to defend from the final three overs, but Shadab smashed three sixes during a 27-run 18th over bowled by Nathan Edward. He then struck two more sixes off Terrance Hinds to complete the victory and earn Player of the Match honors.
Rahkeem Cornwall gave the Falcons a quick start by taking 14 runs from the opening over but was run out on the first delivery of the second over. Amir Jangoo scored 31 from 36 balls, while Evin Lewis made 10 and Hasan Nawaz managed one.
Earlier, the Knight Riders posted 165 for six after being sent in to bat. Colin Munro led the innings with 46 from 33 deliveries, while Nicholas Pooran blasted 43 from 17.
Cornwall took two wickets for 17 runs, while Joshua James claimed two for 23. Sunil Narine and Hinds finished unbeaten on 19 and 14, respectively, after sharing a 34-run partnership.
