Antigua and Barbuda opposition senator Malaka Parker was called to the Bar of England and Wales on Thursday, Oct. 8, marking a milestone in her legal career.
According to an announcement, Parker completed the Bar Professional Training Course at BPP University in 2025, earning distinctions in both Legal Professional Studies and the Bar course.
She also completed professional training in mediation, arbitration and negotiation through an ADR International-accredited programme.
Parker said she balanced her studies with responsibilities at home in Antigua, work with clients and public life.
“It required discipline, sacrifice and an unwavering belief in the goal, but I am proud that I was able to do it,” Parker was reported as saying.
Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Science in Development Studies from Trinity College Dublin. Her postgraduate studies focused on international development, public policy and social transformation.
Parker continues to serve as an opposition senator in Antigua and Barbuda.
“Being called to the Bar is the result of years of hard work, resilience and faith,” she said. “It is a deeply personal achievement.”
