— The West Indies Oil Company (WIOC) says it may reschedule fuel deliveries to some commercial and residential customers as part of preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
In a public notice, the company said arrangements have been made to maintain normal operations with minimal or no disruptions during the international gathering.
WIOC said some customers may be contacted about changes to their scheduled deliveries to ensure they have adequate supplies before traffic and security restrictions take effect.
The company explained that the adjustments are intended to prevent delivery disruptions caused by restrictions in designated zones or on roads during CHOGM.
The announcement comes as Antigua and Barbuda prepares to host Commonwealth leaders from Nov. 1-4, when heightened security measures and temporary traffic restrictions are expected in parts of the country.
WIOC previously raised concerns about maintaining fuel deliveries during the summit at a public town hall meeting. Police advised the company to submit proposed delivery dates and times so movements could be coordinated with the Traffic Department.
The company’s latest notice does not identify which customers or areas may be affected or provide specific dates for delivery adjustments.
WIOC thanked customers for their understanding and cooperation, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining reliable service throughout the meeting.
