Minister of Sports and Creative Industries Dwayne George was last week given a guided tour of the Cedar Valley Golf Club.

As Minister of Sports, the Hon. Dwayne George has portfolio responsibility for the golf club, which was established in 1977.

The facility’s chairman, Eugene Silcott, revealed that one of the significant challenges being experienced is prevailing drought conditions that are impacting the maintenance of the championship course, noting that all ponds have dried up.

However, management is working overtime to carry out repairs to a well, which will supply adequate water for the turf. In the interim, the commodity is delivered daily.

Minister Dwayne George has stressed that the preservation of the Cedar Valley Golf Club is of paramount importance and has urged its management to do all in their power to ensure it is maintained to the highest standards.
