Five Antigua and Barbuda students graduated with degrees from Western Illinois University in the May 10 Commencement Exercises. Three earned doctorates and two earned bachelor’s degrees. They were among more than 50 Caribbean students who earned degrees at all levels.

Students earning their bachelor’s degrees were:

Dominic Christopher, Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with magna cum laude honors. He is a graduate of St. Anthony’s School and Antigua State College.

Hosea Ward, Bachelor of Science in Geology. He is a graduate of Princess Margaret School and Antigua State College. He was also a varsity athlete.

The doctoral degree recipients will be identified in a separate release.

“Caribbean students made history at WIU this cycle,” said WIU President Kristi Mindrup. “The region was well represented at all degree levels and with notable individual achievements. Students from Antigua and Barbuda and the rest of the Caribbean have demonstrated success in and out of the classroom, and have made a positive impact on the university community.”

WIU will join several other universities in a consortium visiting Antigua on June 6.
