ABDF- The Antigua & Barbuda Defence Force proudly hosted its first Officer Candidate Training Course, marking a historic milestone in the development of its leadership corps. Nine potential candidates, drawn from various tertiary institutions across the island and from within the Force itself, successfully completed an intensive twelve week training programme conducted by the ABDF for the ABDF.

This pioneering course was designed to prepare candidates for commissioned service through a comprehensive curriculum integrating military doctrine, leadership development, and professional ethics. Delivered in a structured and progressive format, the programme balanced theoretical instruction with rigorous practical application, ensuring each candidate was equipped with the competence, discipline, and character required of an officer.

Through perseverance and commitment, all candidates rose to the challenge and earned the honour of serving their country in their newly appointed roles. The commissioning ceremony was a proud and memorable occasion, attended by His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, Governor General of Antigua & Barbuda; the Honourable Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua & Barbuda; retired members of the ABDF; and the friends and family of the graduating class.

The ceremony reflected overwhelming support and excitement, underscoring a significant step forward for the ABDF as it strengthens its capacity to train and commission its own officers.

The successful completion of this inaugural Officer Candidate Training Course stands as a defining achievement for the Antigua & Barbuda Defence Force. It reflects growth, self sustainability, and a firm commitment to developing competent leaders from within its own ranks.

Congratulations are extended to all newly commissioned and promoted officers. May their service be guided by integrity, courage, and an unwavering dedication to the people of Antigua & Barbuda.
