The Antigua and Barbuda Workers’ Union (ABWU) is set to stage a series of activities on 4 May to mark Labour Day, including a rally, march and family fun event.

According to promotional material released by the union, the day’s programme will begin with a rally at 09:00 at the ABWU headquarters on Lower Newgate Street in St John’s. This will be followed by a march through the capital at 11:00.

The celebrations will then move to Ffryes Beach, where a family fun day is scheduled to start at midday. Organisers say the beach event will feature games and rides for children as part of efforts to make the occasion inclusive for families.

Labour Day activities traditionally highlight workers’ rights and the role of trade unions, while also serving as a platform for advocacy on wages and working conditions.

This year’s event is being held under a theme focused on strengthening commitment to social development and equity, with the union encouraging broad public participation.
