Complaints about bed bugs at His Majesty’s Prison surfaced in court on Wednesday when a Canadian man accused of importing more than EC$200,000 worth of cannabis asked a judge to be transferred to another cell.
Semand Vivan Shammo Aljndo, 23, who has been on remand since March after being deemed a flight risk, raised the issue directly with the judge during his court appearance. He was advised to discuss the matter with his attorney, Michael Archibald.
Aljndo faces five drug-related charges following his arrest at V.C. Bird International Airport on March 21, 2026. Police said officers attached to the Narcotics Department, K-9 Unit and Customs Enforcement Unit discovered 26 vacuum-sealed packages of cannabis weighing 26 pounds inside a suitcase allegedly belonging to him after he arrived on an Air Canada flight from Toronto.
