Foreign Affairs Minister E.P. Chet Greene says Antigua and Barbuda is prepared to host the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) after a nationwide simulation tested the country’s readiness.

Greene, who is in Peru on official business, said he monitored Friday’s exercise through live updates and reports from officials on the ground. The drill assessed key areas including security, emergency response, logistics and public communication.

Describing the exercise as “rigorous, necessary and successful,” Greene said it demonstrated the country’s ability to manage a major international event.

He thanked the public for their patience during temporary disruptions and praised law enforcement officers, emergency responders, CHOGM personnel and disaster management teams for their professionalism and coordination. Greene also commended the media for keeping the public informed throughout the exercise.

The minister said the successful simulation confirmed that Antigua and Barbuda has the systems, personnel and capacity needed to host Commonwealth leaders next year.

Antigua and Barbuda will host CHOGM 2026, bringing together heads of government from across the Commonwealth to discuss regional and global issues.
