The government says the remaining 200 CCTV cameras under its expanded national surveillance programme are being installed in targeted areas across Antigua and Barbuda this week.

The installation forms part of efforts to strengthen crime prevention and give police greater access to surveillance footage when investigating criminal activity.

Authorities are placing increased emphasis on technology as part of the wider response to serious and firearm-related crime.

The expanded camera network is expected to assist police in identifying suspects, tracking movements and gathering evidence following reported crimes.

The initiative comes alongside other measures aimed at strengthening law enforcement, including increased patrols and the government’s push for police stations across the country to operate 24 hours a day.
