Antigua will host a total of seven matches in the prestigious tournament with four of those matches coming in the group stages and three Super 8 matches held between June 9 and 23 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

The International Cricket Council (ICC), in collaboration with Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the pending ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup, have issued revised vending costs following a review of previously published prices which led to public outcry.

Vendors operating a large bar/food mix space will now be required to pay EC$800.00 or US$300.00 per day while smaller bars/food mix space operators will pay a fee of EC$550.00 or US$200.00 per day.

Vendors selling food, including local drinks, must pay EC$405.00 or US$150.00 per day while persons operating a kiosk or plying their trade as a roaming vendor, will pay EC$200 or US$75.00 per day.

Speaking to Observer media, one vendor who requested anonymity, said the prices are much improved.

“I can live with these prices. They are much better than those previously sent to us because if they had not changed them I don’t believe that many vendors would have bothered. A T20 match is not long depending on teams playing, and it is only one match per day so sometimes you have less than four hours to make back that money and its a lot of vendors in the same space.”

Previously, cost for ‘set concession space or vending procured tent’ for bars, ranged from US$500 to US$750 daily, while a food vendor would have paid US$300 to US$400 daily. For roaming vendors, those selling small snacks like peanuts and ice pops, the cost was at US$200 per day or US$1,000 for all matches.

A kiosk vendor (a small, temporary, stand-alone booth), was being asked to pay US$300 per day. The season rate for bar operators was listed at US$3,500.
