SOURCE: STABROEK NEWS- The 11-year-old girl who went missing yesterday was this morning found dead in the pool of the Double Day Hotel on the Tuschen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo.

A protest had erupted today at the site of the hotel as the police searched for the girl.

After the hotel was emptied a search of the premises was made by the police and the girl was found dead in the pool.

Earlier this morning, before she was found, tyres were burnt and a crowd gathered outside of the hotel demanding that it be emptied so the girl could be searched for. The Minister of Human Services and Social Security Dr Vindhya Persaud was also on the scene.

In a statement last night, the police said that the disappearance of Adrianna Younge occurred between 1.02 pm and 2 pm.

She had gone to the hotel with her grandmother, Carol Xavier to swim. Some time after, it was discovered that she was missing.

The police turned up to investigate but cameras in the area were not working.

The Command Centre in Regional Division #3 was contacted and camera footage showed that Adrianna entered a Red and Black Raum motor car bearing registration number PSS 4684 which drove off in an eastern direction heading towards Vreed-en-Hoop.

Information was received about the registered owner, who, when contacted, said that he rented the car to one Orlando (no last name provided) since last week. Checks were made for the said Orlando at an address provided by the car owner, but Orlando was not found.

A search for the vehicle from the from Georgetown Command Centre showed the vehicle in Onderneeming, West Bank Demerara at ‘White Shop short cut’.

It would now appear that the girl never left the hotel.
