Senator Lamin Newton has publicly expressed his appreciation to the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP), crediting the organisation and its leadership for playing a pivotal role in his personal and professional development.

In a statement released on Thursday, Senator Newton described the ABLP as an “illustrious institution” and said membership in the party had provided him with meaningful opportunities for growth.

“I take great pleasure in stating that I’m a member of this illustrious institution called the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party,” he said. “Being a member of the ABLP has assisted me in my personal development and I am eternally grateful.”

Senator Newton also praised Prime Minister Gaston Browne for his approach to leadership, particularly in relation to empowering younger members of the party and fostering an environment of mentorship.

“The Hon. Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, recognises talent whenever he sees it and continues to provide the necessary opportunities to foster growth and development,” Newton said.

He highlighted the Prime Minister’s commitment to succession planning and the party’s broader philosophy of equitable development.

“The Prime Minister and the membership of the ABLP never feel the need to monopolise knowledge since we stand on the principles of empowerment, equitable distribution and fairness,” he added.

Newton concluded his statement with a message of thanks to the party’s leadership, noting that he would “forever maintain an attitude of gratitude.”

The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party, which currently forms the government, has often underscored its commitment to developing future leaders through active involvement in party affairs and national initiatives.
