A man accused of fatally shooting his partner in 2021 has admitted to murder in court.
Delon Chalary pleaded guilty to killing customs officer Zorina Benjamin, whose body was found at her Golden Grove home with a gunshot wound to the head.
His lawyer, Wendel Alexander, said the decision to plead came after he reviewed audio from a nearby security camera. While the footage showed no visuals of the shooting, it captured a heated exchange followed by the sound of a gunshot.
Alexander told the court he became confident in the evidence after visiting the cyber lab, leading him to request that the indictment be read to the defendant.
Chalary was arrested shortly after Benjamin’s death. The two were reportedly in a relationship at the time.
