Shaquille Lee has officially earned his captain’s stripes at LIAT 2020, marking a major personal milestone and a significant professional achievement in Caribbean aviation.

The announcement came via a heartfelt social media post from V. C. Bird International Airport, where Lee reflected on the sacrifices and determination that brought him from co-pilot to commanding the flight deck. “From right seat to left seat—dreams come true!” he wrote, describing the moment as the result of “early mornings, and late nights” and “some extremely tough life decisions.”

Expressing gratitude to LIAT 2020 for entrusting him with the role, Lee said he would treat the airline’s multimillion-dollar aircraft and crew “like it’s my own,” pledging to lead with passion and humility.

The post resonated with aspiring aviators and well-wishers across the region, many of whom praised his journey as an inspiring testament to hard work and perseverance. Though Lee joked that any visible tears were “just some sweat,” his pride was unmistakable.

Lee’s promotion comes at a time of renewal for LIAT 2020, which has been rebuilding its operations and fleet in recent months. His story serves as a hopeful reminder of the opportunities still taking flight in Caribbean aviation.
