Mikhail Simmons remains in critical condition at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre following Friday night’s high-speed crash along Sir George Walter Highway.
The 26-year-old from St Claire Heights has undergone multiple surgeries since the accident, which left his vehicle split in two after slamming into a Mahogany tree. According to medical staff, Simmons sustained severe injuries across his body and continues to fight for his life in intensive care.
In the wake of the accident, Simmons’ family has made an urgent appeal for blood donations of any type. They are calling on members of the public to donate at the hospital’s Blood Bank to support his ongoing treatment.
The crash occurred around 10:40pm Friday, when Simmons reportedly lost control of his Honda Civic while travelling southbound at high speed. Emergency crews had to use the jaws of life to extract him from the wreckage.
Further updates on his condition are expected in the coming days.
