Antigua and Barbuda remains firmly committed to positive relations with both the United States and China, despite growing global tensions between the two superpowers.

Speaking on ABS, Foreign Affairs Minister E.P. Chet Greene said the twin-island nation’s foreign policy is guided by pragmatism and non-alignment.

“We are friends of all, enemies of none,” Greene said. “We have a responsibility to protect, preserve and promote Antigua and Barbuda’s best interests.”

He described the US as the country’s top trading partner, while China remains its primary development partner.

“Our embassy in Washington ensures daily that relations with the United States remain at optimal levels. At the same time, we continue to proclaim China as our number one development partner. I think we are enjoying the best of both worlds,” he added.

Greene noted that while the US faces diplomatic challenges with other nations, Antigua and Barbuda’s ties remain strong.

“There’s nothing to suggest anything untoward. We continue to monitor developments but maintain a very good relationship with the United States,” he said.
