Two Antiguan brothers reported missing in Sint Maarten have been found safe after mechanical issues left them adrift between Antigua and Barbuda.
Brabely and Francisco Esteves-Vasquez were located after their mother informed Sint Maarten police (KPSM) that she had made contact with them. According to her, the pair encountered engine trouble at sea, explaining their sudden disappearance and lack of communication.
The men had travelled from Antigua to Sint Maarten before vanishing, prompting a family member to travel to the island and report them missing. KPSM launched an investigation amid concerns, particularly given ongoing reports of a separate incident in Antigua where the brothers were allegedly involved in an assault on a fisherman.
While their discovery has eased fears, police say the case remains under review. Regional authorities are working to confirm the brothers’ location and wellbeing.
