Cadaphe Evanson was shot and killed on Monday night during what police say was an exchange of gunfire in Freetown between law enforcers and individuals engaged in criminal activity.
According to police, officers came under fire while conducting a major operation in the area and returned fire, resulting in Evanson being fatally wounded. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A police officer was also injured during the incident but has since been treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators recovered a firearm and several matching rounds of ammunition at the scene.
ABS News understands that another man has since turned himself in to police, accompanied by an attorney, and is being questioned.
