_MAN WHO SHOT AT POLICE KILLED DURING POLICE OPERATION_
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda — Tuesday, 17 June 2025
Police are continuing investigations into a shooting incident that occurred during a police operation in the Freetown area.
Around 9pm on Monday, 16 June the police were conducting an operation when they came under gunfire from unknown assailants. A police officer was shot and injured in the process and the police returned fire.
During the exchange, a male suspect was shot and subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by a medical doctor.
The injured officer was transported to the hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. His injury is not considered life-threatening, and his condition remains stable.
A firearm and several matching rounds of ammunition were recovered from the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.
The police are continuing inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident and will provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
