Police are investigating two separate incidents of theft targeting water vending machines in Antigua, with both cases resulting in the loss of undisclosed sums of cash.

The first incident occurred around 3:30am on Tuesday at DJM Mini Mart in Clarks Hill. Thieves reportedly broke into the water refill machine on site, creating an opening through which they accessed and removed the cash inside.

Hours earlier, a similar theft took place at Fresh and Easy Supermarket in Belmont. In this instance, the perpetrators are believed to have struck between 10:00pm Monday and 2:00am Tuesday. Instead of forcing the machine open, they dismantled and removed the entire cash-holding compartment attached to the unit.

In both cases, the amount of money stolen has not been disclosed. Authorities say the figures are being withheld as investigations continue. Police have not yet confirmed whether the two incidents are connected.
