Two young women from Cassada Gardens were discharged by the court after admitting to shoplifting from Epicurean Supermarket on Friars Hill Road.

The 22- and 19-year-olds appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Dexter Wason on Monday, 23 June, and pleaded guilty to larceny charges related to the 19 June incident.

Security personnel reported the pair left the store without paying for several items, including a sandwich maker, a calculator, and sandwich ingredients. A uniformed police officer stopped them near the exit, where one admitted to having unpaid items.

In court, the older defendant said she had recently started working at a gas station and needed the goods, while the younger said she was trying to replace her mother’s broken sandwich maker.

Both women apologised, and the magistrate exercised discretion by discharging them.
