Emerging soca artist G Man has boldly declared that he possesses the talent and determination to reach the Party Monarch Finals—provided the judging criteria evolve to reflect modern music trends.

A History of Near-Misses“The furthest I’ve reached is the Quarter Finals—I never pass that stage,” G Man admitted. “Some years, I don’t even compete.” Despite past setbacks, he acknowledges the competition’s value, stating, “Yes, the competition does develop artists in terms of exposure and so on.”

Renewed Confidence for 2025Now, after a three-year return to the scene, his self-belief is stronger than ever. “I’m confident of getting to the finals—more confident and comfortable this year than before,” he asserted. “As for winning, I take things step by step. My main focus is reaching the finals. Once I’m there, I’ll work towards victory.”

Call for Judging ReformG Man argues that the competition’s 25-year-old judging criteria no longer align with today’s music landscape. “Music changes, just like the world changes. We can’t have criteria from 25 years ago still in effect in 2025—some of us weren’t even born then!” He emphasised, “We all see and know how music has evolved. It’s time to accept it and adjust.”

Strategic Song SelectionFor his Groove performance (song #9), he has chosen the spiritually charged “Give Thanks Everyday”—a deliberate pick given the no-props rule. “I believe this song is perfect for the first round—it’s about faith, and I know God will carry me through.”

His Jumpy selection, “Work Smart Not Hard”, was chosen for its high-energy, relatable vibe. “It’s catchy, fast, and people can connect with it.” While he personally favours “Give Thanks Everyday”, he acknowledges that “Work Smart Not Hard” is currently his strongest track. “Right now, everyone’s saying that’s the one.”

With a mix of faith, strategy, and modern appeal, G Man is ready to prove he belongs in the finals—if given a fair shot.

Will 2025 be his breakthrough year? The stage is set.
