Antigua and Barbuda’s air quality has dropped to moderate levels due to the thirteenth significant wave of Saharan dust this year, the Meteorological Services confirmed on Tuesday.

Latest air quality bulletin places the Air Quality Index (AQI) between 51 and 80—classified as “moderate” based on fine particulate matter levels (PM2.5 and PM10).

Conditions are expected to persist until Thursday.

While the health risk remains low for most, authorities warn that sensitive groups—particularly asthmatics, children, the elderly, and those with heart or respiratory issues—should limit prolonged outdoor activity. The alert is listed as Air Pollution Level II.
