Antigua and Barbuda, August 12, 2025 — Under the visionary leadership of Camp Director Peetron Thomas, Work Fu Um Summer Camp marked International Youth Day with a powerful day of engagement, learning, and inspiration for its young participants. The event celebrated youth potential and resilience, embodying the camp’s guiding motto:
“Once you believe in yourself, you can achieve it. Just keep on trying, don’t stop believing. Work hard every day and you will see your dreams become reality. WORK FU UM!”
Today’s program featured dynamic activities designed to foster emotional awareness, mental wellness, and community responsibility among the campers. The Mental Health Awareness Presentation was delivered by Chaneil Imhoff, a respected Mental Health Advocate. She also led the Interactive Emotional Expression activity, which guided campers through a spectrum of feelings including happiness, sadness, anger, and excitement. These exercises helped build emotional intelligence and empathy.
In addition, Julien Kentish, a Nurse and Humanitarian, delivered an impactful presentation on the essential role of healthcare professionals in community wellbeing. He emphasized youth empowerment through education on personal safety including clear guidance on good touch versus bad touch, children’s and youth rights, and practical advice to safeguard against sexual abuse as students prepare to return to school. Julien also introduced the basics of CPR and announced plans to return on Career Day to provide hands-on training and share his professional nursing journey.
This International Youth Day celebration was not only a recognition of youth achievements and potential but also a call to action encouraging young people to believe in themselves, embrace hard work, and actively contribute to their communities. Peetron Thomas’ Work Fu Um Summer Camp continues to serve as a beacon of hope and empowerment, nurturing the next generation of leaders with confidence, knowledge, and heart.
