LETTER: WI must break the cycle

    Dear Editor,

No, WI must not be stripped of its Test status. Ismael Tarouba is a bitter ex-QRC boy who belongs to the same category as the Ramona, Anita, Rushton and Mickela, dissidents who did not get their way in the UNC, got vex and now hates Kamla’s guts.

No loyalty or team spirit whatsoever. These folks should take inspiration from the West Indies series victory against Pakistan. Hope Seales’d deal!

Congratulations gentlemen! Noticed in the third ODI, Daren Sammy and Avinash Seeteram sat down and relaxed in the stands and weren’t in the players’ ears every minute.

After the first ODI, I was flabbergasted that Justin Greaves and Amir Jangoo weren’t in the playing eleven because in the recently concluded Super 50, Greaves scored three consecutive centuries at BLCA.

Amir Jangoo had the best strike rate against spin in the same competition opening the batting for Red Force and century on debut against a spin dominated Bangladesh in the West Indies. Again, what is the team analyst doing behind those fancy screens?

So, everytime the West Indies are playing, are we going to have an emergency meeting and a summit to wake the players up? Hope being ODI captain was never an issue, he is our best ODI cricketer.

Powell should be reinstated as T20I captain. This match was won because of the fans, the series was full ah energy. The issue was never the CEO, the coach, it is the mentality.

The supporters really did get into the players, egging them on, even when the chips were down. That’s when the boys really dug deep, and broke their backs into every delivery and hunting every ball.

WI always had this habit where we lose the first match in a series, roar back to level the series in the second only to cut it close and capitulate in the third. Not this time, WI must break the cycle.
