Work is advancing at the Old Holberton Hospital site on what officials describe as a transformative $21 million Renal Centre, designed to deliver world-class kidney care in Antigua and Barbuda.

The Ministry of Works said the new facility will be equipped with modern dialysis machines and advanced treatment capabilities, aimed at meeting the country’s growing demand for specialised care.

Once operational, the centre is expected to ease pressure on Mount St John’s Medical Centre, remove the need for many patients to travel abroad for treatment, and expand access to dialysis for residents and patients across the region.

The project is part of a broader healthcare expansion that also includes the development of a new cardiac unit. It is being spearheaded by Health Minister Sir Molwyn Joseph, with the support of Prime Minister Gaston Browne and Housing and Works Minister Maria Browne.
