Police officer Trevon Giddings is appealing to the public for assistance as he works to rebuild his life after being critically injured while on duty last year.
Giddings was shot three times on May 25, 2025, while responding to a report of masked men in the Potters area. Two of the shots struck his leg, and despite medical intervention, his right leg was later amputated.
Since the incident, Giddings has been adjusting to life with a prosthetic and ongoing rehabilitation. He shared his appeal in a post on Facebook, writing: “I survived something that changed my life forever. Now I’m rebuilding, step by step with my head held high.”
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help cover the estimated US$200,000 cost of a prosthetic leg, reconstructive surgery and physical therapy. Just over US$10,000 has been raised so far.
