    Supervisor of Elections to Lead CARICOM Election Observation Mission to Barbados

    Supervisor of Elections, Mr. Ian S. Hughes, will serve as head of a three-member CARICOM Election Observation Mission to Barbados to monitor and report on the country’s General Elections scheduled for Thursday, 11 February 2026.

    Mr. Hughes will be joined by Mr. Andrew Smith, Regional Manager at the Electoral Commission of Jamaica (EOJ), and Ms. Josephine Tamai, Chief Election Officer of Belize.

    The delegation will be in Barbados from Thursday, 5 February to Friday, 13 February 2026.

    In his capacity as Chief of Mission, Mr. Hughes will serve as an independent contractor, providing leadership and guidance to the CARICOM Election Observer Mission in accordance with the Mission’s Terms of Reference and the responsibilities of the role.

    Mr. Hughes has expressed his gratitude to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) for the trust and confidence placed in his expertise, and he looks forward to playing a critical role in capturing the nuances and context of the upcoming electoral process
