United Progressive Party (UPP) Political Leader Jamale Pringle says the St. Philip’s North by-election represents a turning point for the constituency, describing it as a “change election” as he pledged the party’s full support behind candidate Alex.

Speaking after Alex was formally nominated, Pringle said he “didn’t expect anything less” and praised the candidate’s groundwork in the community.

“Brother Alex has been putting in the work. And I believe. This is the election. This is a change election,” Pringle said.

He added that Alex “would have done quite a bit in a short time” and remains closely connected to residents.

“He continues to do the work… you can see he continues to be the one with the people,” Pringle said.

Pringle also criticized the governing Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s candidate, suggesting the race presents a clear contrast for voters.

“He’s not going to better the constituency, he’s just going to continue Sir Robin’s legacy,” Pringle said, adding, “Sir Robbie’s legacy is one that you know didn’t do nothing and that is troubling.”

The UPP leader pledged unified backing for the campaign ahead of the March 16 poll.

“A united progressive party will be put in full force behind Brother Alex… to ensure that victory,” Pringle said.
