As environmental challenges continue to grow globally and locally, Good Humans 268 Inc. is launching a new initiative aimed at strengthening waste management education across Antigua and Barbuda. Led by youth project leader Kelisha Pigott, the project will create an Online Waste Management Classroom featuring over 100 videos, games, puzzles, and activity-based lessons designed for teachers, students, and community groups.

The project is supported under the framework of the UNESCO x Nestlé Youth Impact Global Youth Grant Scheme, which selected youth leaders from thousands of applications around the world. The initiative comes at an important time for the country. In recent weeks, Antigua and Barbuda has experienced two landfill fires and an oil spill, events that have highlighted the need for stronger environmental awareness and waste management solutions.

According to global waste studies, if current trends continue, the amount of municipal waste produced worldwide could increase by 70 percent by 2050.

Kelisha Pigott believes education is key to reversing that trend.

“The way we manage waste today will determine the quality of life for future generations. Education helps people understand that waste is not just something we throw away—it is something that must be managed responsibly.”

She also emphasized the importance of plastic awareness.

“Plastic has become a major part of modern life. The solution is not simply avoiding it, but ensuring that communities understand how to reduce, reuse, and recycle it properly.”

Through Good Humans 268 Inc., the project will also involve school visits, demonstrations, and community engagement activities to help students see how waste can be transformed into useful materials and creative projects.

The organization encourages the public to follow Good Humans 268 Inc. on social media for updates, videos, and highlights as the project continues to develop.
