ST. JOHN’S, Antigua — A derelict vehicle removal exercise got underway in St John’s Rural East on Friday, with MP Maria Vanessa Browne saying the initiative is aimed at creating cleaner communities, safer roads and a better environment.

In a social media post, Browne said the first day of the exercise was already in progress in the constituency and thanked residents for their patience as the work continued.

“Cleaner communities, safer roads, and a better environment start with action,” she wrote, adding that she was proud of her team for carrying out the initiative.

Photos shared with the post showed several abandoned vehicles being loaded onto trucks for removal in the Clare Hall Village area.

The exercise appears to form part of a broader community cleanup effort focused on removing unused and derelict vehicles from public spaces and residential areas.

Browne described the operation as “progress in action” as crews continued work in the constituency.
