    Antigua Yacht Club Sailors Depart for BVI Dinghy Championship  – Antigua News Room

    Antigua Yacht Club Optimist sailors Lluc Agusti and Ruben Van Hest depart forTortola today to attend the 2026 BVI Dinghy Championship, held May 16th–17th hosted by the Royal BVI Yacht Club.

    To compete in a High-level regional competition featuring top youth talent from across the Caribbean.

    The sailors is accompanied by AYC Head Coach and two-time Olympian Karl James MBE , Agusti and Van Hest have undergone rigorous tactical training in Falmouth Harbour. James’s coaching focuses on the strong current and shifty wind conditions typical of the Sir Francis Drake Channel.

    The championship serves as a critical performance marker for the upcoming summer regatta circuit.
