A magnitude 3.6 earthquake was recorded northeast of Antigua on Friday night, according to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI SRC).
The quake occurred at approximately 9:10 p.m. local time at a depth of 14 kilometres.
The UWI SRC said the preliminary location placed the earthquake at latitude 17.57N and longitude 61.73W, about 52 kilometres north-northeast of St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda.
The tremor was also located 101 kilometres northeast of Brades, Montserrat, and 115 kilometres east-northeast of Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis.
The Seismic Research Centre noted that the automatic location was generated by computer algorithms and remains subject to revision following further analysis by its experts.
