A delegation from a U.S. tourism organization visited Barbuda on May 27 as part of efforts to strengthen tourism partnerships and gain a deeper understanding of the island’s culture, agriculture and community life.

The visit began with breakfast at Wa’omoni’s, where the group met with local stakeholders, including Jackie Desouza. Throughout the day, delegates engaged with farmers, beekeepers and fisheries representatives to learn about key sectors of Barbuda’s economy and heritage.

The delegation toured Highland Farm and visited the Salt Pond, where they observed traditional salt-picking activities. They also sampled local cuisine, including Barbuda’s well-known deer burger, and experienced local hospitality during a stop at Roddy’s.

Organizers said the visit provided an opportunity to showcase Barbuda’s culture, natural resources and tourism potential while fostering stronger relationships with tourism partners in the United States.

The exchange forms part of ongoing efforts to promote Barbuda as a destination and highlight the island’s unique attractions, local industries and community-driven tourism experiences.
