Air quality across Antigua and Barbuda is expected to remain good through Thursday despite minimal levels of Saharan dust and smoke in the atmosphere.

The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service said Tuesday that the Air Quality Index is forecast to range between 30 and 50, based on concentrations of fine particulate matter known as PM2.5 and PM10.

The bulletin placed the country at Alert Level I and said the current conditions are not expected to pose any health risks.

“No action is required,” the Meteorological Service said.

People with respiratory or heart disease, older adults and children are generally considered most vulnerable to poor air quality. However, the agency said no adverse health effects are anticipated under the present conditions.

Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring official updates from the Meteorological Service.
