Trough System Brings Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms to Antigua and Barbuda

The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service is advising residents to exercise extreme caution as a trough system continues to affect Antigua, Barbuda and the wider Leeward Islands, bringing considerable cloudiness, thunderstorms and periods of heavy rainfall.

The Met Office said the unsettled weather could reduce visibility and create hazardous road conditions, particularly in areas experiencing heavy showers. Motorists are being urged to drive carefully while the system remains over the islands.

Although no flood watches or warnings are currently in effect, forecasters cautioned that a flood advisory may become necessary if heavier rainfall persists.

Weather conditions are expected to gradually improve from this afternoon into tonight.

The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Service said it will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
